Description of Practice
American Mediation and Arbitration Center specializes in alternative dispute resolution and conflict resolution through mediation and arbitration.

Professional Background
Judge Thorn's background includes the private practice of law from 1973 until December 1981 when he was appointed a state judge. He served in the civil division of the largest circuit in Alabama where he heard civil cases which included business, commercial, condemnation, construction, contracts, divorce, employment, FELA, medical and legal malpractice, personal injury, probate appeals, professional fee disputes, real estate, workers compensation, wrongful death and other types of disputes. He was the presiding judge for the 39-judge circuit the last seven years he served as a judge.

Mediation Experience
Judge Thorn served on the Alabama Supreme Court's Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission as the state circuit judges' association representative and has been certified by the Alabama Appellate Courts to mediate appellate cases, by the Alabama Judicial System to mediate civil cases and by Atlanta Divorce Mediators to mediate divorce and family disputes.

Approach to Mediation
Having heard disputes in trial for over 20 plus years, I realized that there is a better way to resolve differences. The parties are happier with the results because they make the decisions rather than stranger(s). Mediation is faster, less expensive and the results are final. We will tailor the mediation so you will not have to face the other side during the process.
